July 1999 Review by Michael McClelland    Author

I liked it. It was enjoyable and entertaining. It was worth reading. It is a take on the Doc Savage style pulps. Moore has set himself up with a character that can be used to tell tales that fit anywhere within this century's differing styles of fantasy/adventure fiction. This series is brimming with potential. This book seems to evoke the style of ASTRO CITY. That is both good and bad as ASTRO CITY is a fine book, but Moore should be a front runner not a follower. Is it worth reading on its own merits? Yes. Is it WATCHMEN? No. Will I get next issue? Yes. Do I love it? No. It has the potential for more though. I don't want to get too enthusiastic about it, however. I think I may just be feeling RELIEF that it doesn't out and out suck. It ain't the WATCHMEN. It ain't SWAMPTHING.
