Pop-Culture-Corn HOME Cruel Summer

August 29, 1999

I'm not really that excited to see The Sixth Sense. Though I do go see them, I'm not that huge a fan of horror films. I typically will only bother with the very popular ones. And I've heard good things about Sense--but I don't know. I just don't have any drive to see it.

You ever get in one of those moods? Where no matter how popular or wonderful or critically acclaimed a film becomes, you just stay ornery about it and refuse to see it, for reasons you don't even understand? I'm that way with Braveheart in a big way. The girlfriend is constantly insisting I should see it, and every time we've had the opportunity to sit down and watch it on video, I come up with some excuse not to watch it. I know it's a great movie, and I know I'll probably love it. I just have to stay ornery and not see it for no reason.

I was that way with Saving Private Ryan too, but for a reason: Spielberg sucks now! adays. His last good movie was Jurassic Park. Then again, I haven't seen Schindler's List, yet another film victim of my stubborn nasty ways.
